Instructions

The test procedure is clearly explained in the included instruction sheet, available in both English and Japanese.

About the Infections

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis.
It is one of the most frequently reported STIs in Japan, particularly among people in their teens to 30s.

Because symptoms often do not appear, many people remain unaware of the infection, potentially passing it on to others.
If left untreated, chlamydia can lead to infertility in both men and women.

In Men

Symptoms (typically after 1–3 weeks of incubation) may include:

  • Mild pain or discomfort during urination

  • Clear or white discharge from the urethra

  • Often asymptomatic, which can result in unnoticed transmission

If untreated, it may lead to epididymitis or prostatitis, increasing the risk of infertility.

In Women

Women often experience very mild or no symptoms, but may notice:

  • Abnormal vaginal discharge (yellowish)

  • Dull lower abdominal pain

  • Pain during intercourse

  • Irregular bleeding

Without treatment, the infection may cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or fallopian tube inflammation, both of which increase the risk of infertility or miscarriage.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is an STI caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Its incubation period is typically 2 to 7 days.

In Men

  • Sharp pain or burning sensation during urination

  • Yellow or green discharge from the urethra

  • If left untreated, it may lead to epididymitis, prostatitis, or infertility

In Women

Symptoms may include:

  • Increased vaginal discharge (yellow or green)

  • Lower abdominal pain

  • Pain during intercourse

  • Irregular bleeding

Some women show no symptoms, allowing the infection to progress unnoticed.
Advanced cases can lead to PID and infertility. Gonorrhea can also infect the throat or rectum, causing inflammation of oral or anal tissues.

Importance of Early Detection

Both chlamydia and gonorrhea can be effectively treated if detected early.
Undiagnosed infections may lead to serious health consequences.
Regular testing is strongly recommended, especially for sexually active individuals, even in the absence of symptoms.
